"Afterward Jesus finds him in the temple, and said to him. 'Behold, you are made whole; SIN NO MORE, LEST A WORSE THING COMES TO YOU" John 5:14
Jesus healed a man who has been ill for 38 years at the Pool of Bethzatha where it is said that an Angel troubles the water at a certain season and whosoever is the first to go into the water after the water was troubled, was made whole of whatever disease he had. This particular man healed by Jesus was not able to be the first to go into the pool after the Angel stirs it up this was due to his severe condition as such he needed someone to get him into the pool but since he had no one, he remained there for a very long time, but when Jesus came, Jesus made him whole. The Scriptures recorded that Jesus found him again and warned him not to sin again, otherwise a worse sin will come upon him.
So many people are busy playing with God, so many people are busy playing with the grace of God, some people really think that God is powerless, some people are busy putting God to test, they really want to see what God can do. Uzzah just for stretching out his arm to help the ark of God from falling, God killed him.
Hebrews 10:31 states clearly, "It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God".
Hebrews 12:12-13, "Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees; - And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed"
Hebrew 12:15, "Looking diligently lest any man fail of the Grace of God, lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled" In other words it is actually possible to fail of the Grace of God, and how terrible it would be for that person.
Romans 1:18, "For the wrath of God is revealed from Heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness".
Nadab and Abihu, sons of Aaron, offered strange fire before the Lord that the Lord has not commanded them to and the Lord sent fire that devoured them in the presence of the Lord (Leviticus 10:1-3)
Ephesians 5:6, "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience".
Ephesians 5:6, "Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things comes the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience".
The Lord speaking concerning Eli and His sons said He will punish Eli and judge his house forever for the iniquity which he know and his sons made themselves wile, (1 Samuel 3:12-13).
Don't get me wrong, while we serve a Merciful God, lets not also forget that He is also a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:29), we have the abundance of Grace through our Savior, Jesus Christ, but "What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? - God forbid, How can we that are dead to sin live any longer therein?" (Romans 6:1-2) "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ Our Lord" (Romans 6:23). How long do you intend to stay in that sin???
We must also note that we all are striving towards perfection as the Bible said in 1 John 1:8-10 "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us, - If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, - if we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us".
Righteousness as a matter of fact is not a state of being without sin but it is a desperation to always please God as a lifestyle. God expects us to be holy as He is, (Leviticus 11:44-45). God knows where our hearts are, so there is no way we can outsmart Him, He is All-knowing. We must always fear the Lord and always remember that the wages of sin is death, you may say, But I have been sinning since and I'm still alive? the truth is something dies in you once you sin, As you continue in that sin you see that your life will gradually be draining and loosing taste and before you know it when it is full blown it results to death, it all depends on how God is marking the scripts, it all depends on how God is judging, that's why sometimes some people might be in a particular sin for so long but once a particular person joins it that might be the end of that person forever, and some people will say but it's just only once, well we aren't the Judge, God is. Deuteronomy 6:16 says, "You shall not tempt the Lord your God as you tempted Him at Massah". Jesus told the devil the same thing in Luke 4:12, "It is said, you shall not tempt the Lord your God"
I will conclude by leaving these words of Peter to you (2 Peter 2:20-22), "For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse than the beginning, - For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than after they have known it to turn from the holy commandment delivered to them, - But this happened to them according to the true proverb, the dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire".
first things first, if you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and personal Savior, then you cannot secure the mercy of God in Christ Jesus who paid for our sins with His blood, if you are not saved, you are not safe, if you are not sure, then you are not saved. if you would like to give your life to Christ or maybe you fell off at some point and you would like to return back and reconnect with God, say this prayer and mean it,
"Lord Jesus, I come to You today, I accept that I am a sinner and I confess my sins and repent from them. I believe that You died on the cross of Calvary for my sins. Thank You for forgiving me. today I am saved, I am born again. thank You Jesus". if you said this prayer congratulations, you are now a child of God, so let go of the past evil ways, for the Bible says if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away, behold, all things are become new (2 Cor 5:17). Be Blessed.

I agree with you,Chisom, that having a lifestyle that is always desperate to please is key! Nothing beats a life where we are not imprisoned to guilt feelings! That's one gain when you flee from sin!
ReplyDeleteyes Felix, no one knows how God is judging so we better be on the safe side and flee from sin. God bless you
