The Curse of Keeping Wrong Company

Caution! it takes time to build a house but it doesn't take time to bring it down. one liter of petrol can bring down the biggest building, Now can you compare the cost of the liter of petrol to the cost of the building? no. so don't let your life come down. there is no spare. do not let your Spiritual life that you have toiled to build up to come down in a jiffy, you would regret it for life. that is why it is very important for us to watch our association very carefully. you only have one life to live. Hebrews 9:27, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment". Do not join the gossipers and those that gang up. Leave them and come clean.

Psalm 1:1-3, "Blessed is the man that walk not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. - But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. - And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper"

Walking in the company of the cursed brings a man under a curse. If you are in the same vehicle with a man under a spell. if the spell takes over  the vehicle, everyone in the vehicle gets involved. take for example the story of Jonah, all those that were travelling with Jonah got into the spell, lost all their goods, God saved their lives by a great escape. they just kept company with one under a spell and the spell took hold of the innocent, so they had to pay the price for the staying with one under a spell. Read carefully Jonah 1

Proverbs 13:20, "He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed". Who is a fool? A fool is one who does not reckon with God as seen in the Scriptures in Psalms 14:1, so walking with a fool is endangering your life. There is no future for a believer whose confidant is an unbeliever, no matter how smart the believer is, that believer is heading for destruction. As a matter of fact, the faith of such individual has no future.

This is so important that Jesus had to pray all night to choose His company in Luke 6:12, "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. - And when it was day, he called unto him his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles". Just to choose His Apostles, Jesus had to pray all night. There is a saying that someone that smears his body with oil, does not play around fire. If you are carrying oil, you simply stay away from fire. It is so important to understand how much a man looses keeping a company without thinking if it is a wrong company or a right one, remember even Jesus had to pray all night to choose His company.

Before keeping company ask yourself some certain questions like does he/she love God?, Is he/she excited about going to Church?, Does he/she pray?, and so on. 1 John 5:18, "We know that whosoever is born of God sins not; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not". So it is absolutely our responsibility to keep ourselves, so the wicked one won't touch us". Please do not let the devil walk into your life for free, make it very difficult for him. No one ever survives the wreckage of a wrong company.

Look at the story of Amnon, one of the sons of David in 2 Sam 13:1-14, it was his friend, Jonadab that led him to his grave and moved on. Amnon told him he had feelings for his sister and Jonadab being a professional in arranging that type of thing, helped him arrange the evil act which led to his death, confirming Proverbs 13:20 that says "He that walks with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed".

Parents must have high level protection over the friends that their children keep. Children should never be permitted to do what they like but what is right, if you let your children do what they like, you will pay dearly for it tomorrow. Most students are in crisis today because of wrong association, some parents don't even care where their children go and what time they come back, or what they do when they are out. 

some matured Christians are paying deadly prices for wrong association today, for thinking that they are more matured than the truth. The Scriptures cannot lie, It says Be not deceived, evil communication corrupts good manners. (1 Corinthians 15:33), no matter how anointed you are. Stop claiming you are so anointed to withstand any evil, otherwise you mean the Word of God lied.

Association is so important. Lot went with Abraham and the blessings of Abraham rubbed on him as seen in Genesis 13:5. That is what we are expected to be doing, going with the blessed. Joseph was in the house of Potiphar and because of Joseph God prospered the Egyptian's house in Gen 39:5. That's how powerful right association can be. if you don't connect correctly you will pay dearly for it. many people are in hassles because of their wrong associations, (Gen 30:27).

It is better to walk alone than to find yourself in a wrong association. Amnon had no capacity for that crime. Without a Jonadab, it would have been impossible for Amnon to carry out his thoughts. So we must learn to take appropriate action. Matthew 7:24, "Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock".

How to know if you are right or wrong;

1. Proverbs 17:17, Iron sharpens Iron. when you sit around a friend and your iron gets duller, blunter, please run, that is an enemy. when you sit around a friend and God's presence seem to leave you, and you can't pray then you are in a wrong place. mutual benefits, if the relationship is not benefiting you then it is eroding value from you. nothing is permitted to remain at the same level or value. it is either going up or coming down. Be not deceived. a wrong company will still torment any individual and bring him/her to very regretful positions, no matter the anointing upon his/her life. So do not mistake the anointing on your life or the prayer and fasting for any how lifestyle.
2. You must break off unprofitable relationship that keeps you at the same spot every day of your life, tell yourself 'you do not have a spare life' and strive to make the most of it. the curse of a wrong company can be most deadly as seen in the case of Amnon and Jonadab. Making the most of one's life is impossible with wrong company. wrong company leads to a wreckage. if Jesus needed to pray all night, then it must be a serious matter.
3. If you are not together in the pursuit of God, you are likely going to miss God. In Acts 3:1, Peter and John went up together into the temple in the hour of prayer. Anyone you have as a friend that is not in pursuit of God as you claim to be, will soon get you off the back of God. Try to always be a learner of good things in a team and not a leader in that team. Isn't it fascinating to know that Kenneth Hagin, Oral Roberts, T. L. Osborn lived in the same apartment building and they all made impacts in the entire world and are still making. Please make a choice to get off whatever might get you off the back of God. It won't kill you, rather it will save your life.

Nobody ever mocks the Prophetic without becoming a mockery. Anyone you call your friend is a reflection of your person. Most importantly we need the Grace of God to break of every wrong association. some people are so deep that they don't even think they can break off from that wrong relationship. Well, I am here to announce to you that 'With God all things are possible'. Go ahead and ask Him for His Grace, ask Him to send Our Helper, the Holy Spirit to help you pull out from that association. do not wait till tomorrow to pull out, delay could be really dangerous. I pray May the sufficient Grace of Our Almighty be upon every one of us in Jesus name, AMEN. God bless you.

first things first,  if you have not received Christ, you might not even be able to see that you are in a wrong association due to the blindfold of the enemy, (2 Cor. 4:4). Christ is the only way. if you are not saved, you are not safe, if you are not sure, then you are not saved. if you would like to give your life to Christ or maybe you fell off at some point and you would like to return back and reconnect with God, say this prayer and mean it," Lord Jesus, I come to You today, I accept that I am a sinner and I confess my sins and repent from them. I believe that You died on the cross of Calvary for my sins. Thank You for forgiving me. today I am saved, I am born again. thank You Jesus". if you said this prayer congratulations, you are now a child of God, so let go of the past evil ways, for the Bible says if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away, behold, all things are become new (2 Cor 5:17).
